The newest process in fine art reproduction is Giclée (pronounced jhee-clay). We have decided to have some of Jan's most exciting work reproduced using this method. Each one will be personally signed and numbered in a limited edition of 50 each.
Giclée reproductions are created via a digitally scanned image, which is printed with a high resolution inkjet printer. The quality of the print is unsurpassed by any other reproduction method. There was a time, only a few years ago, when fine-art reproductions were extremely susceptible to fading. However, with the use of new archival paper and revolutionary pigmented inks, the life expectancy of a Giclée image is now realistically in the range of 90 to 100 years. This projected range is based on research and tests conducted by Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc., acknowledged leader in archival testing.
Each giclée is double matted with premium museum rag mat board which provides optimum archival protection for fine works of art on paper. Our mat board is made of 100% cotton rag. It is not a wood product. Because of the expense, few artists choose to utilize these quality materials. Jan, however, has always painted on the best surface available, and has in fact personally endorsed the watercolor board she now uses. It is 100% rag paper, and 100% rag-backed. Each piece is framed in old-world pewter, and glassed with 1/8" acrylic. These unseen materials are compatible with the quality of Jan's work.
All of Jan's original paintings have an identifying number on the back. The giclée image bears the same number as the painting from which the reproduction was made.
