November 2011
Dear Breakfast Clubbers,
It’s time to write this. Yes it’s late but that is the way things go when you get old. The need to do anything “on time” seems to slip away. We are well underway on placing paintings and giclees. We need to be ready to move on. At the present I know not where other than two months in Dunedin, Fl. Coming soon. It’s January and February of 2012. I remember sitting in school figuring out how old I would be in 2000. Finally figured it was about 67. I wondered if I would still be alive and decided the answer was yes. Wondered how much longer I would live after 2000 and the answer was I just don’t know. Well 2012 is around the corner and all is well. Healthy most of the time and can out walk you, I’ll bet.
WE’RE AT LESS 30% FOR NOVEMBER.
DECEMBER WILL BE 40% OFF.
JANUARY WILL BE 50% OFF AND THAT’S ALL YOU GET.
Now remember. Original paintings -only have one of each image
-
. You only have one chance to get the painting you wish. Also the giclees are limited to the number listed for each image. We do not plan to print more. The price I have to pay has gone up 300% and I don’t wish to pay it. The art business is to be over soon. Janet is going to be totally in charge of selling materials and equipment after the sale of paintings and prints. Ice Flow and Release are available in paper only shipped in a tube. Just throwing out some extra information. I’m sure all is not covered. I’m telling Aubrey to delete the sold paintings from the site for there are too many and they are no longer available. Also, for 75 years Gil owns the copyright on all work. You buy and own the original but it is illegal to have it printed without the approval of the reproduction rights that Jan kindly willed to Gil.
PLEASE CALL 734 475 4300 OR CELL 734 649 0478 FOR ANY INFORMATION OR IF YOU JUST WISH TO TALK. E MAIL DORERGJ@AOL.COM OR GILDORER@GMAIL.COM ALSO AUBREY AND JANET CAN TAKE MESSAGES BUT I HAVE TO GO UPSTAIRS TO GET THEIR INFO AND IT HAS BEEN LISTED BEFORE A FEW TIMES.
Daughter, Cyndy, said for me the tell people some of the interesting happenings from being in the art business forever. I recall getting into a gallery group in Birmingham, Mich. The main members were Cranbrook people. Now Cranbrook is known for arrogance and being better than others. We paid our money but Jan was not allowed to show her work there for “they were Cranbook people”. The gallery was open about four months before the invested money was gone and the business was in jeopardy. Finally, in desperation, they allowed Jan’s work to be shown. Her work started selling immediately and almost saved the gallery but it was too late to save. A decorator took eight paintings on approval. We heard nothing from her or the gallery on payment for the paintings. Gil found out, Bette, the decorator had traded them to a surgeon for a hysterectomy. Bette got her hysterectomy. The doctor got his paintings. We got nothing. I found out the name of the Doctor and finally got through to him. I told him the problem and he laughed and said, “you know Bette”. He paid me so now Bette got her operation, Doctor got his paintings and Jan got paid. Hope the operation on Bette improved her life. We knew her at Central Michigan University and she was known as somewhat outside the box even then. Another time we almost traded a painting for 75 pounds of shrimp in Savannah. Now that is a lot of shrimp for one family. Did trade for a hive of bees. Had a good year with the bees and loved having them with us. I took too much honey to give to the neighbors and it weakened the hive and the moths took over so we lost our new friends. I think this is enough for now.
I do await your call or email. I so love to hear from you people of the past.
Stay happy and healthy and try hard to love life.
Gil
